The continental United States contains land masses of constant moving Plates. California is by far the most active in this venue thanks to the instability of the San Andreas Fault and all attached fault networks. Given the magnitude of quakes in that region one can only assume that the next major earthquake will happen there. It’s only obvious!
However, what about the Pacific Northwest? Northern coast lines of California, all of Oregon and Washington state lies a subduction zone which is capable of reaching magnitude 9+ without breaking a sweat. The events that would transpire across the Pacific Rim would cause a level of destruction unimagined by most. Massive tsunami’s would be generated and ground shaking for excess of 5 minutes in Seattle alone if the entire Cascadia Subduction Zone were to rupture.
We have included links for preparedness and generalized information that everyone who lives in the Pacific Northwest should openly understand and use to prepare for this type of event. It is inevitable!
Regardless of where you live in the United States, you should learn how to prepare and plan for quake emergencies as they come without warning and cause extreme disruption to life and functionality as a whole.
