I am constantly reviewing quake related data from the USGS and PNSN, especially due to where I live in Washington State and just how prone we are to a major quake related event.

I’ve been reading up on a Episodic Tremor and Slip (ETS) that was believed to have started back in March and expected to last for roughly 2 weeks straight, which turned out to not be the case. The ETS event I am referring to has apparently started up for sure this time in the southern Hood Canal region on a slow vibrating treck towards Vancouver Island, Canada. ETS’s happen at very deep levels at a constant magnitude of 6+, but we even though I live basically right on top of the event, I haven’t felt a thing!

This ETS is unique to say the least. The deep tremor begins in the southern Hood Canal region, and slowly moves through the Olympic Mountains up to the southern exteriors of Vancouver Island.

Automatic Tremor Locator  <– Map Updated every 5 minutes

May 8, 2008 -  The tremor is really ripping over the last few days with most
hours having moderate to strong tremor that is showing on many stations.
According to Aaron’s automatic tremor loation plots tremor seem to have started
moving to the northwest and is now directly under the herd of Texans at
the Big Skidder site. Justin has scheduled a service run for these 80 stations on Friday.
