Digital Marketing Strategies to Make You Succeed
The 21st century is the age of digital excellence, the age of the “Creative Economy. People of all ages, shapes and sizes are armed with technological arsenals – mobile phones, Direct-to-home (DTH) television, the Internet, mp3 players and PDAs, to name a few. Marketers can ‘bombard’ potential customers with useful information using these mobile and interactive marketing technologies – digital marketing!
Digital marketing is often confused with internet marketing, but the latter is only a small part of the entire scale of digital marketing. Digital marketing uses two strategies – first there is the “pull” strategy, by which the company creates a web page, forum, blog, streaming audio/video etc., to attract customers who are searching for products, and then the “push” strategy, where information is directly delivered to the hands of prospective customers(via SMS, Podcasts, RSS feeds, phone calls, etc).
“Pull” and “push” have their advantages and disadvantages as digital marketing techniques. While “pull” digital marketing allow unrestricted file size, do not require customers to opt-in, and have low technology requirements for the company; “push” strategies are more personalized, offer detailed tracking of customer choices, and are more likely to result in an actual sale. On the other hand, “push” digital marketing strategies can be blocked, require customers to opt-in and allows them to opt-out, and require additional expense for delivery.
A good way to attract customers with minimal investment is through e-marketing, i.e. to design a well-organized, attractive website with an XML site map. This enables search engines to detect the site easily, and also makes it easy for people to navigate. A blog is an easy way to get online visibility, and constant updates on blogs keep them high in the search rankings. However, the other aspects of digital marketing strategy, apart from e-marketing must be given due importance. So, if stats show it is the only the first few seconds of an ad-campaign that ‘makes’ or ‘breaks’ a campaign, factors like viral marketing, e-mailers and other web-based steps should be well coordinated with mobile and other medias to result in an efficient strategy. So, alongside Internet, a digital marketing strategy would combine the platforms of cell phones, outdoor display boards and portable pod casting players to reach to the target user groups better.
A multi-channel Digital marketing strategy is far more likely to yield better results in today's world than a conventional marketing method alone. By creating instant information at people's fingertips, digital marketing strategies work to keep a business always on the customer's doorstep.

How do companies such as I-pod work in respect to royalties and distribution?
As we all know the times have changed and now musicians and the industry are making their money on MP3 downloads and through such services as i-pod. I was wondering how the royalty process works? Also as in the old days record stores would buy by bulk of the record and sell it but now its all digital. Now how does this work out does a company such as I-pod buy the rights and only purchase the album once? Or do they have to buy the song or album based upon how many orders are placed?
Apple uses percentages to pay the royalties for the songs. Of the $1 it costs for a song on iTunes, the majority of it will go to the artist and the record company, while only a small amount, lets say 10 cents, stays with iTunes. Seems like a small amount of money but with well over 1 billion songs sold, Apple has already brought in hundreds of millions of dollars this way.
